Former Northern MN State Rep. Mary Murphy Dies at Age 85

Longtime northern Minnesota state Rep. Mary Murphy has died.

The Hermantown Democrat was first elected to the House in 1977 and served through 2022. She is the longest-serving woman in Minnesota House history.

DFL officials say Murphy died Wednesday after recently suffering a stroke and then a second series of complications. Murphy was 85 years old.
