Temperatures hover around 32 degrees as anglers pursue the first fish of the season, Saturday morning.

Water temperatures drop about five degrees in the two days before the opener, causing the fish to dive deeper.

Bemidji fishing guide Beef Sathre and his sons Logan and Luke fill the live well with half their Walleye limit by 9 a.m.

Working shiners by drop-offs near weeds proves the best place.

The bite slows down a lot as the day rolls on, but at around 10 a.m. Luke manages to reel in the biggest Walleye in the boat.

The northern pike have been biting around 14 feet deep, and the crappies have been going crazy in 12-14 feet of water.
