Two people were killed in a car crash on Westbound I-94 Tuesday. The Minnesota State Patrol is investigating the incident between two semi-trucks and a pickup.

The two occupants of a 2013 GMC Sierra have died as a result of the incident.

A 2017 Freightliner, 2007 Volvo Tractor Trailer, 2006 Pontiac Grand Prix, 2007 Tran trailor and 2014 Timp trailor were also involved in the crash, according to the State Patrol. One lane on the westbound site has been reopened and traffic is no longer being diverted, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation.

All vehicles were traveling west during the time of the incident. The Sierra was reported as a total loss. The Freightliner, Pontiac, Volvo tractor trailor, Tran trailor and Timp trailor had no reported damage.

One of the deceased individuals is described in the State Patrol report as a 39 year old male passenger from Thompson Falls, MT. He was inside the Sierra. Alcohol does not appear to be involved and the man was wearing a seat belt.

A fatal crash has been reported on Westbound I-94 in Douglas County. A Minnesota State Patrol spokesman confirmed the single vehicle crash was called in at 5:54 A-M.

The agency has not released how many were injured or died from the incident. The car involved is a 2013 GMC Sierra.
The crash took place outside of Alexandria and Osakis, Minnesota. State Patrol is currently on the scene.

Traffic has been redirected off of W I-94 to alternate exits toward the Alexandria area.
