Family Donates $75,000 to Leech Lake Tribal College Library Project

The Leech Lake Tribal College is well on its way to completing construction on a new library thanks to a generous donation from a Cass Lake family. Thanks to a $75,000 dollar donation from the Teal family, the Leech Lake tribal college has completed its $2.8 million dollar campaign to build a new library on campus.

Andrea Teal said, “We’ve been in the Cass Lake community for 73 years and the community’s been very good to us over the years and we’re very excited that the tribal college has been so aggressive in expanding because it’s going to be good for the entire community.

The current library space is only 900 square feet and can only accommodate about a dozen students at at time. The new and improved 8,000 square foot library will feature state of the art equipment that will meet the needs of the college and the community for years to come.

The Leech Lake Tribal College is planning on hosting a grand opening of the new library during the Fall of 2014.
