Fallen Deputy Steven Sandberg Laid to Rest

An emotional farewell for deputy Steven Sandberg who was remembered today as a quiet person with an inner strength.

More than three-thousand people, including two-thousand law officers packed Aitkin High School to pay their respects.

Sandberg left behind a wife, Kristi and daughter Cassie spoke at today’s service.

Looking out at the completely filled gym Cassie Sandberg shared what her dad meant to her.

Following the funeral there were two long processions filled with law enforcement officers and the Sandberg family. Community members lined the road and watched as deputy Sandberg made his final ride through town.

The processions last stop was the Bennettville cemetery where his family and friends said there last good byes and finally laid him to rest.
