Extra Distracted Driving Enforcement Ride Along

Minnesota State Trooper Nick Diederich is among the 30 Minnesota organizations working an overtime six hour shift dedicated to strictly enforcing state distracted driving laws.

Cell phone usage is most commonly found among distracted drivers, but their are others factors that can contribute.

Law enforcement cited 909 drivers for texting and driving during the 2015 distracted driving campaign. That was a 65 percent increase over the previous year. A texting and driving ticket is about a 135 dollar fine and after the first offense, it raises. The campaign aims for drivers to choose safety over texting and eliminate distracted driving.
