Expansion Of Registered Apprenticeship In Minnesota Receives $1.5 Million Boost
The Minnesota Department of Labor and Industry (DLI) was awarded a 1.5 million grant from the U.S. Department of Labor to fund its Apprenticeship Expansion (APEX) initiative. The grant will be used to support the expansion of registered apprenticeship in construction to minorities and women through statewide promotion, construction-career readiness, and greater construction-employer engagement.
“A well-prepared and highly skilled workforce is essential to Minnesota’s economic future,” said Ken Peterson, DLI commissioner.
The APEX initiative will support apprenticeship readiness programs that will partner with registered apprenticeship partners. Some of those partners include the Minnesota Bricklayers and Allied Craft workers JAC, Construction Careers Foundation and North Central States Regional Council of Carpenters Training Center.
