Eelpout Festival Continues Despite Ice Concerns

Law enforcement officials have made changes to the 2016 Eelpout Festival.

They’ve banned cars and trucks from taking space on the lake for the weekend events, citing concerns over inconsistent temperatures and the thinner ice they’ve caused.

The ice is still almost two feet thick, which is more than safe for walking and ice houses. The problem centers around placing too much weight on the ice with large crowds.

All contests, including fish weight contests all weekend, will continue.
