More than 500 teachers from Browerville, Brainerd, Little Falls, Wadena, Pine River, Menahga, Verndale, and Crosslake all gathered in one place to hear leading educational researcher, Dr. Robert Marzano.
The presentation worked under the title “Teaching with Rigor.”
Marzano proposes teachers accomplish rigor by making students back their claims with research.
Marzano also suggests taking grading beyond the amount of questions a student answers correctly.
The goal is objective-based learning.
The scale runs from zero to four. A zero means the student possesses no understanding of the material. A four means the pupil grasps the concept above and beyond what the teacher taught in class. Anything above a three earns an “A.”
