A boat capsized this morning on the east side of Leech Lake, according to a press release from the Cass County Sheriff’s Office.

The Cass County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a capsized boat with two male duck hunters in the water, southeast of Battle Point on the east side of Leech Lake, according to the release. Deputies were able to locate the hunters using cell phone mapping technology.

In the release, the Cass County Sheriff’s Office reminded duck hunters and fall fisherman to always wear their PFD (personal flotation device), always dress for the water temperature and to field-test their gear.

The Cass County Sheriff’s Office could not be reached for comment in regards to the duck hunters well-being.
