Deer River’s Wild Rice Festival Will Go On As Planned

When the Itasca County Board declared a state of emergency due to the severe storm that swept through Ball Club, Deer River, and Deer Lake on July 5th left many wondering if the annual community event would happen. Emergency Management Director Marlyn Halvorson said that Deer River’s Wild Rice Festival would go on as planned.

The 68th worlds largest wild rice festival will run July 8th through the 10th in front of Deer River High School. The Festival will feature a carnival by Amusement Attractions, food, live entertainment, parade, and a fireworks display.
