Deer River Man Killed in Head-On Crash

Bemidji, Minn., – Adam Holecek, 30, of Deer River, is dead after a head-on crash Sunday night east of Warba.

According to a Minnesota State Patrol report, Holecek was on U.S Highway 2 traveling west around 8:09 p.m. when his 2002 Nissan Maxima crossed into the highway’s eastbound and struck a 2010 Chevrolet Silverado head on.

Holecek’s vehicle came to rest in the westbound ditch. He died at the scene.

The driver of the Chevrolet, Shawn Springer, 38, was not injured. The passenger in the Nissan, Brian Watson, of Grand Rapids, sustained non-life threatening injuries.
