Original story:

The Itasca County Deer River area was hit by widespread damage after storms came through late Tuesday afternoon, causing a large amount of property damage and widespread power outages throughout the area.

The Itasca County Sheriff’s Office has announced that food, water, and information will be available at the Deer River Fire Hall starting at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, July 6.

A dock was also ripped out from the storm from 33586 W. Deer Lake Road, blocking a channel, the sheriff’s office reports. They are asking the public to use caution while on the lake. They are expecting to clear the dock out today.

Authorities are also asking people to check on their neighbors, and stay clear of downed lines and suspended trees.

If you or someone you know has been affected by this event, and is in need of assistance or sheltering, please call 211 or 218-326-8565 for further information. Dial 911 if it is an emergency.
