CWC Sheriffs Train To Keep People Prone to Wandering Off Safer

Crow Wing County sheriffs were out in the rain today to train with their Project Lifesaver program. The Technology is used by 1,400 agencies in 48 states, 6 provinces in Canada and in Australia. The detector picks up radio signals from one of the wristbands and allows the officers to pinpoint the location of the device.

The bands are designed for anyone with special needs or has Autism, Dementia or Alzheimer’s. And sheriffs say the sooner they’re called to help find someone, the sooner they can track them down.

Crow Wing County Sheriffs say they’re trying to get anyone who’s at risk of wandering off outfitted with these bands, so if someone like Marc Welzant wanders off, they can have a better success rate in trying to track them.

Project Lifesaver is funding by the non-profit Project Lifesaver International. And Crow Wing County sheriffs say they’ll help everyone put on and maintain the wristband.
