Over 2 million people suffer from epilepsy in the United States alone. So as part of her platform as Miss Minnesota, Savannah Cole teamed up with the Brainerd Lakes Curling Club to go “Curling for a Cause” to raise awareness about the neurological condition. The event featured 16 teams and was held to help make the Brainerd/Baxter area a seizure-smart community. It also benefitted the Minnesota Epilepsy Foundation, and Golden Gophers Football Coach Jerry Kill’s Chasing Dreams Foundation.

Coach Kill’s Foundation benefits seizure smart schools, and Camp Oz, something Miss Minnesota says is very close to her heart. While each person had their own reason for attending, when it came down to it, it was just about supporting a good cause with a fun event.
