Crow Wing County Announce 2015 Aquatic Invasive Species Plan

15% of Crow Wing County is made up of water. With 550 lakes in the county protecting the water and preventing aquatic invasive species is important. A priority for Crow Wing County was to involve the local lake associations to come up with this year’s plan to help prevent AIS.
Crow Wing County received about $450,000 dollars from the state for the prevention of the spread of AIS. And the lake associations said in the surveys they want the count to focus on inspection, decontamination units, control of Eurasian milfoil and education.
Both Crow Wing County and the DNR say with boat season around the corner all boaters should remember they have to drain all water, remove plants and mud from their trailer and boats and pull all plugs.
