Construction Bidding Period Opens For New Elementary School

The school board met tonight to discuss the latest updates to the long term project.

Most recently, the superintendent met with the board of Grant Valley Township, the area where the school will be built. The district will be closing on the property next Tuesday, and then the final step begins.

The board has opened the construction bidding period to assess potential company plans for the project.

The period will close on December 8th, after which the board will review the proposals. One board member expressed concern that there was not enough board meeting time to discuss, especially since this was not their area of expertise.

Superintendent Hess said a special session may be called to address all proposals thoroughly.

Dr. Hess will meet with the city manager and mayor to discuss the project tomorrow.

According to a construction timeline filed last March, the school should be completed at the end of August 2018.
