Community Spotlight: “Poetry on the Wall.”

Artists of words in the Brainerd Lakes Area came together on Saturday to share a unique experience that’s exclusive to poets and literary artists, an experience that is communal, imaginative, and compelling. Poets in the local area attended the second annual “Poetry on the Wall” event at the Franklin Arts Center to read and listen to individual poems.
Around 21 artists participated in the event. There’s about 56 poems on the walls of the Q-Gallery, located in the arts center. A variety of poets submitted their work,  young and old.  Award-winning author Sheila O’Connor traveled from St. Paul to share her experiences with the poets. She is the author of four novels: Keeping Safe the Stars, Sparrow Road, Where No Gods Came, and Tokens of Grace. A third “Poetry on the Wall” event is expected to occur next year.
