Community Spotlight – Nisswa Winter Jubilee

Frigid temperatures only meant one thing for those attending the Nisswa Winter Jubilee this weekend; dress warmer. The theme for the 43rd installment of the annual jubilee was “Hula in the Coola”, and given the weather conditions, it seemed to fit perfectly.

While the tourism boom helps the local economy, events like the medallion hunt provide for some great family time. Kids participated in a wide range of events, including fishing for candy, ring toss, face painting, and plinko. They also had a special visit from Lizzy Thurlow, the newly crowned Miss Nisswa 2015.

While the cold weather caused a decline in the number of people who attended this year’s event, they still consider it a success and look forward to next year.
