Community Spotlight: Hundreds Gather to Honor the Life of Grace Elizabeth Lee

It was only five years ago that the Lee family lost their baby girl Grace suddenly a week before her first birthday. Grace suffered from a congenital heart condition and had undergone open-heart surgery before she passed.

Grace Elizabeth Lee was born on Memorial Day Weekend; and it’s also the same weekend that her family said their final goodbyes to her. The family now uses the weekend to not only honor Grace but to also help other kids battling chronic illnesses through their annual Race for Grace 5K.

Although Graces time was short she left a big impact on the people in her life. Her bubbly personality and her love for monsters are a few of the memories her family miss most.

Over the past four years the race has donated 23,000 dollars to charities. This year the proceeds from the race will be donated to the Brighter Days Foundation. The foundation has helped sponsor the event for the past few years.

Family members believe that Grace would be overjoyed to know that so many people are coming together in her honor to help save other children.

As more people learn about Grace’s story the race gets bigger every year. The race for Grace has essentially become the biggest birthday party that Grace Could ever ask for.
