A presentation held Saturday at the Headwaters Science Center in Bemidji, led by Dr. Tokunbo Akande from Sanford Health, explained that washing hands thoroughly is the best way to stay healthy. He says it’s also important to stay home from school or work until the flu passes in order to help slow down its spread to others.

Akande and other medical officials say it’s important to get a shot or spray version of the flu vaccine in the fall.
