Community Spotlight: Author Marjorie Johnson Visits Bemidji

A Minnesota author that’s achieved national fame for her cook book paid a visit to Bemidji today as part of the Library Book Festival. She’s best known for sharing her cook book, The Road to Blue Ribbon Baking, on national television shows like The Tonight Show, The View, and the Talk, but today, Marjorie is inspiring people in Bemidji to get excited about books as part of this year’s Library Book Festival.

People at today’s presentation said Marjorie is the perfect fit for this year’s festival, because even though she has shared her book nationally, she has roots in Minnesota. Hayley KcKeon, the Library Book Festival Coordinator, said, “Even if you’re living in a small town in Minnesota, you can still become an author and you can still write.”

Johnson spent time meeting and greeting people at today’s event, and shared her tips for achieving success not only in the literary world, but also in the real world. She says the key is to do whatever you do to the best of your ability.

Many left the event feeling inspired to write books of their own. So, maybe the people watching Marjorie’s presentation today, can become the future writers, readers, and presenters of tomorrow.

The Bemidji Library Book Festival will have a variety of writing workshops and presentations throughout the week. The events are open to every age group and are free for the public.
