Commission on Judicial Selection Recommends Seventh Judicial District Candidates to Governor Dayton
ST. PAUL, MINN. – The Commission on Judicial Selection announced today it is recommending three candidates to Governor Mark Dayton for consideration to fill the current vacancy in Minnesota’s Seventh Judicial District. This vacancy was created upon the upcoming retirement of the Honorable Conrad I. Freeberg, and will be chambered at Milaca in Mille Lacs County.
Judge Amy Chantry: The Honorable Amy Chantry is a contract Administrative Law Judge in the Minnesota Office of Administrative Hearings, a solo practitioner at the Law Office of Amy Jo Chantry, and an attorney at St. Cloud State University Student Legal Services. Previously, she was an associate at Eller Law Office, an Assistant Public Defender in Benton and Stearns Counties, and a judicial law clerk to the Honorable David R. Battey. Judge Chantry volunteers at high school mock trial tournaments and for various student activities at Sauk Rapids Rice Middle School and High School.
Gail Kulick: Ms. Kulick is a solo practitioner at Kulick Consulting, P.A., where she handles cases primarily in real estate, probate, estate planning, and government relations. Previously, she was an attorney and policy advocate for Winthrop & Weinstine, Commissioner of Corporate Affairs for the Mille Lacs Band of Ojibwe, and represented District 16A in the Minnesota House of Representatives. Ms. Kulick serves on the Board of Directors of the Northern Lights Community Theatre, and previously served on the Board of Directors of Mille Lacs Health System and the Minnesota Children’s Museum.
Shan Wang: Mr. Wang is the Assistant Chief of the Criminal Division in the Stearns County Attorney’s Office, where he supervises the adult criminal division. Previously, he was an Assistant Stearns County Attorney and a judicial law clerk to the Honorable Regina M. Chu. Mr. Wang is the President of the St. Cloud Public Library Board of Trustees, serves on the Board of Directors of the Stearns-Benton Bar Association, is a member of the Minnesota Asian Pacific American Bar Association, and is the past president of the John E. Simonett American Inn of Court.
Minnesota’s Seventh Judicial District consists of Becker, Benton, Clay, Douglas, Mille Lacs, Morrison, Otter Tail, Stearns, Todd, and Wadena Counties. An announcement of the appointments will be made following an interview process over the next few weeks.
