Climate Minnesota: Brainerd Connects Community to Local Climate Impacts

Earlier this evening at Central Lakes College, community members attended a public convening about local climate change impacts and solutions hosted by Climate Generation: A Will Steeger Legacy and the University of Minnesota Regional Sustainable Development Partnerships. The project is called Climate Minnesota which promotes climate literacy and place-based solutions among Minnesotans by sharing local stories among individuals who have been effected by climate control.

Minnesotans are experience the impact of climate change in their own backyards.

The convening held by Climate Minnesota in Brainerd today, was to discuss the disparities in climate change, examining the extreme situations, and the consequences that personally effecting the lives in the community.

University of Minnesota Extension Climatologist Mark Seely, provided data about some of the most significant trends being changes in climate, the dew point, and amount of moisture.

Along with Seely, locals were given the opportunity to discuss personal situations.

The sharing of stories is something that the project builds on to reach that personal contact to a diverse audience.
