Cassandra Torstenson To Leave As Brainerd City Administrator

Brainerd City Administrator Cassandra Torstenson will be leaving her position as City Administrator of Brainerd. After over a year and a half of service, Torstenson submitted her letter of resignation on September 3rd.

Torstenson will be moving back to her hometown in Johnsburg, Illinois, and the main reason for her departure is to be closer to family. Torstenson says she has thoroughly enjoyed her time in the Brainerd Lakes Area and will miss the people that have been so welcoming to her and her family.

“Every day I come to work it’s an honor to be here; there are such incredible people here, I’ve been able to do a lot of really neat projects, we’ve been able to start a farmer’s market in the downtown, we’ve been able to work on some destination downtown business competition stuff and put some more business downtown,” said Torstenson. “I think the biggest thing I learned is just relationships, there are so many people that live in the Brainerd Lakes Area and it’s going to be hard to leave them.”

Torstenson’s last day as City Administrator will be October 3rd. She will be taking the position as Assistant County Administrator for Lake County, Illinois.
