Cass & Crow Wing Counties Declare States of Emergency

Four days are Sunday’s ferocious storm there are still trees on roofs and power line blocking driveways. And now the counties affected have declared a state of emergency so cities have more money to cleanup.

In order to qualify for state of emergency and get state support a county needs to exceed $1.78/resident in damages. For Crow Wing County that’s over $111,000 and for Cass County that’s over $55,000.

Although the area doesn’t look like it’ll accumulate over the $7.4 million dollar of damage needed to be a national state of emergency. The money from the county will help get the about 2,500 customers without power back on the grid.

Power companies are reminding residents whatever was on before the power went out will turn back on with the power comes back and to make sure appliances like electric stoves or heaters are cleared off.
