Motorcyclist dies after hitting an SUV in Brainerd

A motorcyclist died today after hitting an SUV in Brainerd this afternoon.
Minnesota State Trooper, Lt. Joe Dwyer told us, “There was a serious crash on Highway 210 through the City of Brainerd today with a motorcycle versus a sporting utility vehicle.”
Minnesota State Police says the Chevrolet Trailblazer was traveling west on 210 when the driver turned left onto NW 3rd Street. During the turn the motorcycle, traveling east on 210, hit the right side of the SUV in the intersection of NW 3rd Street and Washington Street, also known as Highway 210.
Brainerd Fire Department directed traffic on HWY 210 westbound and closed the eastbound side of HWY 210 during the investigation.
Dwyer says with nicer weather means more people riding their motorcycles. He says, “Within the last week we’ve had an increase in the number of fatal crashes involving motorcycle drivers. But with the nice weather we’ve been having it has been bringing a large number of motorcyclists out and there’s just an increase in the number of motorcyclists in the state of Minnesota at this time.”
