Adult ospreys can grow to nearly two feet in length, with a near six-foot wingspan, but it is their nests that have been doing the most damage in Brainerd. Osprey nests have become a nuisance for electric companies in the area, but they say there’s nothing they can do about them. So with the help of the DNR, electric companies have been trying to get ospreys to move their nests. Woizeschke says that the amount of osprey in the area is unknown but they won’t be leaving because they like the area for the large amount of high quality lakes with good fish populations.
