Brainerd Police Make Marijuana Wax Arrest

The execution of a search warrant in Brainerd let to the seizure of five pounds of a substance called marijuana wax. As part of an investigation into distribution of the drug, the Lakes Area Drug Investigative Division executed a search warrant on June 16 in 900 block of South Eighth Street in Brainerd.

Five pounds of marijuana wax, which authorities said in a press release had a street value of $150,000, was seized. An arrest was also made in the case, as 21-year-old James Clayton Kalk was taken in.

The report says evidence recovered at the scene showed a large scale sale operation of the drug.

“Marijuana wax is a relatively new product which is made from raw marijuana but is far more potent,” Crow Wing County Sheriff Todd Dahl said. “It does not appear that the marijuana wax was being made here. We believe it was shipped to the residence where it was being prepared to be sold. Nearly 5 lbs of Marijuana Wax is a very large amount since this product is normally sold on the street by the gram.”
