Brainerd Fire Chief Announces Retirement
Since March of 1960 there’s been a Stunek at the Brainerd Fire Department. Starting next month that’ll come to an end when Chief Kevin Stunek retires. He says being fire chief was a dream come true.
Chief Stunek says he’s proud to have served the Brainerd area and of what his station has accomplished during his time as chief, but says it’s time for someone younger to take over.
During his five years at the helm Chief Stunek has created a better relationship with the media, oversaw a better radio system installed at his station and was a fixture in the community. But it was his passion for that job that’ll be missed most.
Chief Stunek says he had a great staff and his department is one of the best in the country and is optimistic about the transition between him and the incoming fire chief.
