Brainerd Community Action Announces New Director

Brainerd Community Action has announced that Executive Director Nancy Cross will be retiring. The board has picked a new leader for the group to build on its mission of “building the non-profit ‘economic engine’ of the Brainerd area,” according to a press release.

The non-profit vetted about 25 applicants for Cross’ replacement. Holly Holm was selected for the position and will take the seat in January 2017.

“Holly’s extensive network, communication skills, marketing experience, and deep understanding of our region, make her the ideal new executive director of the organization,” stated the press release.

The group acknowledged that many people in the area are unfamiliar with the role Community Action plays in the broader community. The group works to connect community members with other non-profits, provides services to other existing non-profits such as consulting work and orchestrates community events such as the 4th of July fireworks display.

“I just want to play a larger role in helping to build a stronger and more vibrant Brainerd area,” said Holm in a statement.

Cross served the organization for 25 years.
