Brainerd Bike Collision Update

A Brainerd man was hospitalized after his bike collided with a car on Monday evening.

At 6:30 p.m., a  2004 Pontiac Grand Prix was traveling westbound at the intersection of Oak Street and 9th Street in Brainerd when it made contact with 40-year-old Troy Thompson’s motorized bike, which was moving southeast from a nearby gas station.

Eyewitnesses told Lakeland News on Monday that Thompson was knocked unconscious and suffered a scrape on the head when the incident occurred.

The state patrol tells us Thompson was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash. He was transported to North Memorial Medical Center in Robbinsdale, Minn., where the medical staff says he is in stable condition as of Tuesday afternoon.

The state patrol’s report says both the driver and passenger of the Grand Prix were unharmed in the incident.
