Boat Destroyed By Fire On Gull Lake

Fire destroyed a boat in the Gull Lake Narrows in Lake Shore Wednesday Night.

The Fire was called in around 8:00p.m. Wednesday evening. Nisswa Fire Chief Richard Geike told the Brainerd Dispatch that the runabout boat was fully engulfed when firefighters arrived on the scene around 9:00p.m. The boats owner was stopping to get gas when he noticed the fire. The man jumped off the boat and swam to shore about 100 feet away.

When firefighters arrived, they had to first try to get the boat to shore to extinguish the fire. A nearby boat assisted the fire department by driving back and forth to make waves so the burning boat would float to shore. Once the boat was near the shore, firefighters extinguished the fire.

The cause of the fire remains unknown.
