Blue Zones speaker teaches Brainerd to live longer and healthier

Learning how to live longer and healthier. Blue Zone speaker Judy Zimmer says people who live in Blue Zones reach 100 years old at ten times the average rate.
Zimmer says the Blue Zones study found individuals are more prone to lose weight and live a healthier lifestyle if their environment promotes a healthier lifestyle. She says most people who put the responsibility on themselves to be healthy tend to fail.
The Blue Zones promote a Power 9 which are: Move Naturally, having a Purpose for waking up, Down Shift to shed stress, eating until your 80% full, eat a more plant based diet, 1 or 2 glasses of wine at 5, Belong to a faith-based organization, put your Loved Ones First and having a Right Tribe to support you.
Oh the nine parts to the power 9, some of the attendees say they’re going to start small and try to implement one or two into their daily routine.
In 2009 Blue Zones did a pilot program in Albert Lea Minnesota and five years since they started participates have added a projected average of almost three years to their lives and city workers’ healthcare claims dropped almost 50%.
