Bena Woman Seeks Kidney Transplant

A couple from Bena is actively advertising for a kidney.

Rosella Patten went into a diabetic coma in 1999 after getting diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes five years earlier. It took her several days to recover. For the last two years, she’s been on a treatment called peritoneal dialysis, a procedure in which blood is cleaned using a machine while she sleeps.

Both Rosella and her husband Eugene want to find a solution to the problem. Instead of waiting for a deceased organ donor with the right blood type to provide a kidney, they’re taking things into their own hands and running print advertisements for a living donor.

The donor must match Rosella’s O blood type.
