Bemidji Veteran Headed To Puerto Rico Thanks To “No Barriers Warriors” Program

A Bemidji veteran was selected, out of a couple hundred other veterans from around the country, to participate in a special mission trip to Puerto Rico. The opportunity is all thanks to a program called “No Barriers Warriors.”

Jeremiah Freye was nominated for “No Barriers” by Beltrami Electric Cooperative last year. The program’s mission is to help veterans break down walls and talk about their service. Freye initially went on a trip to Colorado with the program, before being one of only five vets selected for the Puerto Rico trip. Freye says he hopes to bring back some of the things he’ll learn on the trip back to the Bemidji community of veterans.

Freye says, “I hope that other veterans, by seeing programs like this will take advantage of programs like this. I never – before that I never took advantage of any kind of veteran program. There’s a lot of veterans programs out there that are really therapeutic, awesome. Usually don’t cost a lot, if anything for veterans.”

Freye leaves for the trip on April 8th. He’ll be sharing his experience at Beltrami Electric’s annual meeting on April 23rd.
