Bemidji Upstream Homebrewers Host Annual Spring Beer Tasting

More than 100 people attended the homebrew festival at Keg N’ Cork over the weekend. People were given a score sheet to rate the beers from a scale of 1 to 4. The beers were organized into five flights of four beers, starting with a light beer to a dark one.

All beers were brewed by members of the Bemidji Upstream Homebrewers, and each member brings in their best one. The most experienced brewer in the group, Charlie Parson, said they see how well everyone ranked.

“We do usually tabulate them just for our own persecution,” Parson said with a laugh. “We find out who does well and who didn’t do as well. And usually, we are all surprised because what we think makes a great beer may not be what our audience thinks makes a great beer.”
