Bemidji Sports Authority May Face Closure

The only sporting goods box store in Bemidji could soon close down.

It isn’t a guarantee, but Sports Authority CEO Michael Foss said in a statement that 140 of the company’s 450 total stories will be closed.

Instead of liquidating its assets, information which was first reported by Forbes earlier this week and later retracted, lawyers have said the company is talking with several potential buyers for most of its remaining assets. They expect the company to continue running its daily operations.

The manager of Sports Authority’s Bemidji location declined to comment when Lakeland News asked if his store would remain open.
