*UPDATE* Woman And Car Located In Possible Abduction

The Bemidji Police Department has located the car and the young woman described in this case of a potential abduction.

Information gathered during the investigation, including statements from the vehicle owner and several others in the area at the time this occurred, indicate that an abduction did not occur. Police also looked at video surveillance in the area. A female who had been in the area at that time, wearing similar clothing, has also been identified and located.

The incident happened last night at 7:30 near the area of 26th Street NW and Calihan Avenue. Upon arrival, officers spoke with the juvenile witness who stated that he had been outside at the time and saw a black four-door Jeep approach a female who was walking on the side of the street. A rear seat passenger motioned for the female to come closer to the vehicle. When the female approached the Jeep, the rear seat passenger grabbed this female and pulled her inside the Jeep. The Jeep then left the area northbound on Calihan Avenue.

The Bemidji Police Department is thankful for the juvenile who reported what he saw. Police do not believe a danger to the public exists and would like to thank the community for their assistance.
