Manly McDermott

A Bemidji man is suspected in the April 2021 shooting death of a woman in Wisconsin.

Authorities say evidence obtained through search warrants, interviews, and forensic analysis led them to identify Manly McDermott as a suspect in the death of Cary Lynne Elkin.

Law enforcement found the body of Elkin in a home in Sand Lake, WI on April 2nd of last year. She had been shot several times. Elkin has ties to Bemidji as well and went to school in Bemidji.

The Sawyer County Sheriff’s Office is forwarding the case to the district attorney’s office requesting that McDermott be charged with first-degree intentional homicide.
