Bemidji Man Sentenced to 8 Years in Prison for Stabbing and Killing Girlfriend

A Bemidji man was sentenced Monday in connection to the death of his girlfriend last year.

Twenty-six year old Brian Keith Jourdain was found guilty of second degree murder without intent after killing Krista Marie Fisherman, 35, of Redby. The incident happened back in February of 2015 when Jourdain had stabbed Fisherman in the legs several times leading to her death.

Jourdain is sentenced to eight years and four months in prison for the crime. He also has another four years and two months of supervised release.

Beltrami County Attorney Annie Claesson-Huseby requested a fifteen year sentence, saying Jourdain was in control during the stabbing. Jourdain’s attorney, however, requested a lighter sentence due to his “intellectual disability.”
