Bemidji Jaycees Announce the 2016 Water Carnival Schedule

The 72nd Annual Bemidji Jaycees announced the return of their six day water carnival event today via it’s website and social media. The carnival returns to the Lake Bemidji south shore and will be in the lot of the Sanford Center.

Merriam’s Midway is expected to have the largest midway ever for this years event.  Merriam’s Midway says they will be offering armband specials each day of carnival.

This year wall to wall events fill the entertainment tent from noon until 1:00a.m. each day of the carnival. New features include Compass at the Carnival that combines area church bands for a night of young adult and family entertainment. Fitness workshops from Babes Playground from noon until 5:00p.m. on June 30th and July 1st.

Returning this year after a year absence is the Bald Eagle Water Ski Show that returns to the hillside of Lake Bemidji’s waterfront/ Paul Bunyan Park. The show returns to the lakefront on Saturday, July 2nd at 3:00p.m.

Also new this year is the Red, White, and BOOM Firework Spectacular, which for the first time ever will be shot off from a large barge floating on Lake Bemidji. The show will begin at dusk on July 4th.

Other events include the annual Family Fun Day on July 2nd, featuring the annual Kid’s Run at 10:00a.m. with the Kiddie Parade following at 11:00a.m. Kids will be entertained by the talents of Paul Nye and the Homeward Bound Theater Company with their performance of Treasure beyond Measure.

The Bemidji Jaycees have a new collection of Bands for their entertainment tent featuring local and regional talent ranging from the Acoust Hicks and Obstruction of Justice to JUNK FM and The Front Fenders.

The Bemidji Jaycees 72nd Annual Water Carnival runs June 29th through July 4th.
