Beltrami Humane Society and Bemidji Partner Up For Pets

Most people have a soft spot for animals. The passion to protect them can be strong, and at times, lead to arguments. At a work session, Bemidji Public Affairs Committee members and humane society representatives met to discuss a rift between the two groups over the treatment of animals at the city pound. After five days of custody at the pound, animals are offered to the humane society for transfer. So, the question becomes how can both groups work together in harmony with limited resources?

Despite their past differences, these two groups have their concern for the animals in common, and this meeting of the minds sparked future opportunities for collaboration. And, moving forward, both groups agree that collaboration will help them put their best paw forward.
