Beltrami County Honors Fallen Officers, Designates Police Week in May

For a half hour Thursday, the Beltrami County community came out to honor the lives of fallen officers over the last year. This memorial service is also a time to empower and appreciate all officers in duty. Beltrami County Sheriff Phil Hodapp challenges officers in duty to redouble efforts to protect their own, and wants to increase officer safety by improving training programs. Mayor of Bemidji Rita Albrecht also designates May 15 – 21, 2016 as police week in Bemidji, and publicly salutes the service of law enforcement in all communities. The ceremony is held in conjunction with Police Week and National Law Enforcement Memorial Service that is held annually in Washington D.C. The lives of Investigator Steven Martin Sandberg and Game Warden Charles Masoner were also particularly commended in the ceremony.
