Beltrami County Fair Kicks Off Events for 2025
The Beltrami County Fair officially kicked off Wednesday and will have events running through Sunday, August 10.
Traditional events like the many different animal shows, Wojo’s Rodeo, and the barnyard Olympics will return, along with a variety of new vendors, live music, and demonstrations that fairgoers can look forward to throughout the week.
“We’ve made a lot of improvements that the fairgoer won’t really see, like a new grooming building behind our cattle barn,” said Beltrami County Fair Board President Vern Holzhueter.” So they’re going to probably find out that the cattle barn’s a little neater and less cluttered. [Minnesota Twins mascot] TC Bear is going to be here tomorrow night. And [Bemidji State University mascot] Bucky Beaver is going to be riding a dirt bike in the opening ceremony for motocross. So we got some real celebrities here this year.”
Fair officials say the fairgrounds received minimal damage from the June 21 storm. Close to 100 volunteers spent the last several weeks cleaning to get the fairgrounds and facilities ready for the many different kinds of livestock, as well as the thousands of fairgoers who attend every year.
“I was having a panic attack when all the registrations came in from poultry because I’ve never had this many for 4-H,” added Holzhueter. “Beltrami County ranks number three in the state of Minnesota for the number of kids enrolled in poultry and the number of birds we show at the fair. We also have tables in most of the barns so people can talk with people, pet the animal. We aren’t just looking at animals in stalls, we want interaction. So people should come to see a wide selection: every shape, breed, color.”
Beltrami County Fair officials highly recommend pre-ordering tickets to certain shows and events that take place throughout the week, as many of the shows do sell out. You can visit the Beltrami County Fair website to see where those tickets can be purchased.
