Beltrami Co. Set to Address Mental Health Issues Through ACT Pilot Program

Beltrami County is taking another step forward in tackling mental health issues in the community.

ACT, also known as Assertive Community Treatment, is a mental health pilot program that will serve those in need 24/7 a day, 365 days all year.

ACT addresses deeper end mental illnesses such as schizophrenia, major depression and bipolar disorders. They will then work on short-term accommodation options and detoxication programs.

The program is designated $255,000 out of $2-million state legislature funding to address mental health issues in the area.

ACT is set to launch July 18 and will serve up to 50 people.

The community collaborative program is led by the Upper Mississippi Mental Health Center, and they will gain referrals through area law enforcement officials.
