Bear Alert After Sightings Near Clearbrook-Gonvick School

A bear alert has been issued for residents with children in the Clearbrook-Gonvick area.

The Clearwater County Sheriff’s Office says bears have been spotted near the intersection of Clearwater Lake Road and 169th Avenue, which is the intersection in front of the Clearbrook-Gonvick School. The school is requesting that parents and guardians do not allow children to walk to school until further notice.

Officials say if you do see the bears, for your own safety, keep your distance. A mother bear will defend her cubs even if you mean no harm.

The Clearwater County Sheriff’s Office, the Clearbrook-Gonvick Police Department, and the officers from the Department of Natural Resources are aware of the bears and will be monitoring them.
