Baxter Working On Two Development Projects

Baxter already has stores like Costco, Target, Walmart and Home Depot. Now a new development project at the corner of HWY 371 and Country Road 48 could add three apartment buildings, five office buildings, seven businesses buildings and a spot for another big box store. However the initial concern with the sketch is the back of the buildings would face the intersection.

While those plans for the development on the south side of town are still in the early stages, the German-owned Aldi plans to break ground this summer just north of Target on HWY 371.

Aldi’s will be the 3rd grocery story of its size in Baxter. And that’s not including big box stores like Target, Walmart and Costco that also sell grocery. But the Baxter Community Developer says, with Baxter growing the market will tell them if the area can support that many grocery stores.

The Baxter Mainstreet LLC project would be across the street from the Essentia Health Baxter clinic and would add 370 apartment units.
