Baxter Plans for Construction on Water Treatment Plant
The Baxter City Council imposed a water restriction two weeks ago due to a failure in their water treatment plant. The council reconvened last Tuesday to discuss their future water plans.
The recommended plan is to replace all four filters in their filtration system and make necessary repairs on some of the hardware. The estimated cost of the project is at $3.3 million. Until it’s completed, Baxter is mixing water from their currently limited treatment operations with water they’re receiving from Brainerd Public Utilities.
The city of Baxter is still figuring out where the money for the project will come from. Water restrictions are still in effect until further notice.
