Athlete of the Week: Brooke Mimmack

Sports were not necessarily in Brooke Mimmack’s future. At just three days old Mimmack had open heart surgery. But as of today, she competes as a three sport athlete and is currently part of the No. 1 doubles Brainerd tennis team.

Since she can remember Brooke Mimmack has been living with an arrhythmia known as an unstable beating of her heart.

With her condition, she has never let that get in the way of her strive for competition.

Her refuse to lose mentality follows her throughout each sports season playing tennis, hockey, and softball.

And most wouldn’t know about her heart condition watching her play.

Along with her leadership style she is known for having a powerful arm.

And Mimmack wants to continue proving doctors wrong with aspirations to play sports at the collegiate level.
